How to track student progress & proficiency data

How to see what your students did (Activity) and where they stand (Pulse).

Overview

Roxxem shows your students in two places:

  • Activity: what they did. Time spent, days active, content played, words studied and assignments completed.
  • Pulse: what they can do. Each student's level in reading and listening, who needs your help, and what to teach next.

Both are included with Pro Teacher. Without it, you can explore both with the demo class.

See what your class did (Activity)

  1. Select Activity in the sidebar.
  1. Choose a class at the top of the page.
  1. Pick a period: Day, Week, Month or Year.
  1. You'll see your students' total time, how many were active, and the assignments they completed. Open the Students tab to see each student.

See where your students stand (Pulse)

  1. Select Pulse in the sidebar and choose a class.
  1. Overview shows where the class sits in each skill. What To Do shows the skill holding the class back and what to teach next.
  1. Students puts your students into groups (Stalled or at risk, Needs support, Warming up, On track and Above level), each with the reason, then a full roster.

View one student

Select a student from either page:

  • In Activity: their time, days active, content and words.
  • In Pulse: their group and why, their levels in reading and listening, their goals, and your private notes about them.

Proficiency levels

Pulse gives each student a level for reading and listening on the ACTFL scale (switch to CEFR with the toggle). Writing and speaking are not scored yet. Levels update overnight from the games and practice students complete, so a new student shows as warming up until there is enough to read a level.

A student's Spanish level test result also appears in Pulse: in the Level test column on the roster, and on their profile. See How the Spanish level test works.

FAQ

Can I see which specific words a student has learned?

Yes. In Activity, choose the class, open Students, select the student, then go to Words.

Can students see their own progress?

Yes. Students can open their own Activity page and, with Pro, their own Pulse. They never see which group you put them in.
