How to create a lesson

How to build a lesson with Roxxy, from what it should teach to a lesson ready for your class.

Step 1: Open the Lesson Builder

Log in and select Roxxy Chat in the left-hand menu. On Roxxy's welcome screen, find the Build lessons card and pick an idea, such as 20-minute beginner lesson: the Lesson Builder opens with that goal filled in, and you can change it.

You can also open the Lesson Builder from any video, vocab list or question set with Generate Lesson, which attaches it to the lesson for you, or go straight to app.roxxem.com/lessons/create.

Step 2: Say what the lesson should teach

  1. In the first box, What should this lesson teach?, describe the lesson: a topic, a grammar point, a song. The more specific, the closer the first build.
  1. Set Duration, Difficulty, Class and Language. Choosing a class lets Roxxy use what it knows about your students. A lesson's language can't be changed once it's built: to teach the same topic in another language, create a new lesson.
  1. Optional: click Add Roxxem content to build the lesson around up to 5 videos, a vocab list and a question set.
  1. Optional: drop your own files under Add your own files here, such as a worksheet (PDF, Word, image, CSV or text).

Step 3: Let Roxxy build it

Click Start building. Roxxy builds the whole lesson in one go: slides, vocabulary, questions and games. If you didn't attach a video and none fits your goal, Roxxy asks you to pick one first.

Step 4: Review and change it

When the lesson is built, Roxxy sums it up in the chat. Ask for any change in plain words, such as "make the questions easier", and Roxxy changes only that part.

Click Open lesson to see the lesson page, and Preview to see it the way your class will. To change it by hand, see How to edit and delete a lesson.

A new lesson is a draft: only you can see it until you teach it or tell Roxxy it's ready.

Step 5: Teach it

On the lesson page, click Start lesson. Your students join at roxxem.com/live with the code on screen, or by scanning the QR code. See How to start a lesson.
