Whac-A-Word is Roxxem's most popular feature — and the fastest way to get a feel for what makes Roxxem different. It takes less than a few minutes to play and shows you exactly how real content turns into practice.
What is Whac-A-Word?
Whac-A-Word is a fast, reflexive word identification game. Words from the video you're studying pop up on screen, and you have to react quickly to identify the right one before it disappears — think of it like the arcade game, but for vocabulary.
How to play
- Click any video from the library.
- Select Whac-A-Word from the list of games attached to that content.
- Click Live Game if you’d like to play with multiple players or students. Solo game is great for just one player or to check out how it works.
- Select your settings.
- Listen for the target word or watch for its translation, and tap it as soon as it appears.
- When the round ends, you'll see your score and which words you missed, so you know what to review next.
Where to find it
You can launch Whac-A-Word from any piece of content in the library, or as one of the activities inside a generated lesson.
