Overview
A video lesson guides you through the lyrics of a music video, teaching vocabulary and comprehension through a sequence of questions and activities.
How a lesson works
1. Select a song and under the Lesson category select Video Lesson.

2. Click on learn First Lyric

3. Watch part of the video with synced lyrics highlighted in real time.
4. Answer questions about the vocabulary and meaning of each lyric section.
5. Progress through the song line by line until you have covered all the lyrics.
6. After completing the lesson, see a summary: words studied, questions answered, and XP earned.
What the questions test
- The meaning of individual words
- The translation of a full lyric line
- Recognizing a word you hear in the audio
- Filling in a missing word in a lyric
- Identifying what lyric comes next
Spaced repetition
Roxxem tracks which words you have learned and when you are due to review them. When you return to a song, the lesson focuses on the lyrics and words due for review, so you spend your time where it matters most. See Spaced Repetition Explained for more detail.

Do I have to complete a song in one session?
No. You can pause and return at any time. Your progress is saved automatically.
Can I skip lyrics I already know?
The lesson adjusts based on your study history. Words you have already mastered appear less often.
What happens when I finish all the lyrics?
Once you have worked through every lyric, Roxxem enters the review phase, resurfaces lyrics due for repetition.
